● ABSTRACT:
A general theory for calculation of the moments
transmitted by an arbitrary universal joint was
developed. The theory based on the assumption of a
static system with friction, inertia and elastic forces
disregarded, was confirmed for two particular cases,
the C.V.J. (Constant Velocity Joint) and Hooke's joint.
It turns out that a moment component normal to the
shaft is unavoidable.
